Thistle Lake Ride
At last the club managed to hold the Thistle Lake Ride. Previously it had to be cancelled due to too much snow on the trails and then because of travel restrictions due to the summer forest fires. With the temperature at the zero mark, 17 riders on 16 bikes left for a revised ride due to beaver activity.
At the beginning of the ride, we went through a red pine forest. Since the leaves had fallen, it seemed like you could see forever through the trees. We enjoyed lunch on a small lake with a beautiful protective view. You could see the cement foundation of what was once a cabin for the rangers who manned the fire tower. Riders experienced a deep water section before the steep trail going up to the tower. All riders were up to the challenge.
The rest of the ride was through narrow winding trails covered by fallen leaves.
We all got back to our vehicles early but satisfied with a day of excellent riding.
